The newly refurbished Stromness Squash Court opens to the public next week.
Orkney Islands Council has taken on management of the courts following the end of the lease between Stromness Squash Club and the Council.
The court will be run by the team at Stromness Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre.
The refurbishments include upgrading and extending the Market Green Changing Rooms.
Kieran Henderson, Assistant Director (Leisure and Culture) said: "This is very good news for squash enthusiasts in Orkney and I'm delighted that we can offer the public greater access to the squash court.
"The upgrade offers a high quality facility and excellent changing amenities for sports teams. We are very keen to promote both squash and racquetball to the Orkney community, and encourage anyone who has not played before to come and try their hand in Stromness."
The changing rooms are now available for use and the squash court will be available from August 24.
