East Lothian Council is planning to resurface Court Street, Haddington, over a period of two weeks beginning Sunday 23 August.

The works will extend along Court Street from the Hope Park junction and go a short distance into Market Street and the High Street.

The work will be carried out in the evenings from 18.00 to 22.00 and on Sundays from 08.00 to 16.00 to minimize inconvenience to the public and businesses.

No work will be carried out on Saturdays.

To ensure public safety for both road users and pedestrians, temporary traffic lights will be installed and parking will be restricted during the times work is in progress but the road works are being planned so that a two-way system will continue to operate during the normal working day.

Transportation spokesman Councillor Paul McLennan said: "This work is necessary to upgrade Court Street which is the gateway into the centre of Haddington from the west. "The work is being carefully planned to reduce as much as possible, disruption to the normal working day for the public and businesses and I ask people to be patient while work is in progress.

"The upgrade will improve the centre of Haddington for residents and visitors alike."
