Two tram works contracts worth almost £10m have been awarded to principal and specialist contractor the McKean Group.
McKean and Company, a division of the McKean Group, has won a £7m contract from Bilfinger Berger to carry out work on Edinburgh's £500m tram scheme.
The firm's remit includes widening two bridges, carrying out roadworks, excavation work, laying concrete foundations for the tram lines, and laying ducts and drainage. The contract also includes the construction of a retaining wall.
Meanwhile, in the company's second tram works contract-win, another of its divisions, Mayfield Construction, has just begun work on a £2.7m project in Manchester for Stagecoach.
As part of a major programme of improvement works to Manchester's tram network, Mayfield is contracted to lay new paving and concrete surfacing on the road-running sections of the Metrolink system throughout Manchester city centre.
The double contract win was welcomed by Dave Noar, Group Managing Director of the McKean Group of companies.
He said: "We are delighted to win these two tram works contracts and look forward to showcasing our expertise to both Bilfinger Berger and Stagecoach."
