Major Appointment For Graham + Sibbald

Graham + Sibbald have been instructed by BDO Stoy Hayward to market two major development sites in Scotland.

The two sites comprise, the former Jewel Esk Valley College, Eskbank, Dalkeith and the iconic former BBC HQ, Queen Margaret Drive, Glasgow.

Graham + Sibbald also held off stiff opposition from Scotland's other major property firms to seal the instruction for the former BBC headquarters at Queen Margaret Drive in Glasgow.

The site has full planning permission for conversion of the existing listed buildings into a 120 bed hotel, and 164 residential apartments and 4 townhouses on the remainder of the site. The site has become available after the original purchasers, QMD Glasgow Ltd, a joint venture between Applecross, Esk and Blackrock, fell into Administration.

The former Jewel Esk Valley College campus in Dalkeith comprises a 16 acre prime residential development site with the benefit of outline planning consent for 125 luxury residential units. These comprise a mix of 52 detached houses, 48 semi-detached houses and 25 flats. The site is within commuting distance of Edinburgh and is available after Apple Rock Two Ltd, a joint venture between Applecross, Esk and Blackrock, fell into Administration.

Keith Watters from Graham + Sibbald said: "The Eskbank site is a prime residential development opportunity and despite the turmoil in the market, we are confident of securing good levels of interest. Obviously, the market is difficult on the back of the limited funding available, but we feel this is a good opportunity for those with cash or funding in place."

Gary Louttit, Partner and Head of Graham + Sibbald's Leisure Department added: "In respect of the former BBC headquarters site, we are delighted to bring such a prime hotel development site to the market and we are confident that there will be considerable interest from many of the UK's, and indeed Europe's, foremost hotel operators."
