A £2.4m contract to build a development of 24 affordable homes in Aberuthven, Perthshire, has been awarded to Stewart Milne Construction by Hillcrest Housing Association.
Construction will be based on an innovative closed panel timber kit, used in a similar development at Peterhead, using modern methods of construction to deliver the project quickly and efficiently. Homes will be built to high quality standards, airtight, well insulated and efficient to heat.
Graeme Keillor, projects manager for Hillcrest Housing Association, said: "There is a real demand for quality affordable rented housing in the Perthshire area. Stewart Milne Construction brings proven experience of delivering developments of this scale to meet our timeframe and also our need for a high quality end product.
Hillcrest's development will consist of a mix of semi-detached and terraced three and four apartment properties. The contract commenced in March 2009 and is due for completion by the beginning of February 2010.
