Scottish Builders Dig Deep To Raise £2,000 For The Prostate Cancer Charity Scotland

Over 200 members and guests of the Scottish Building Federation dug deep in their pockets and raised £2,000 at their annual gala dinner for The Prostate Cancer Charity Scotland.

The Charity relies on donations to help continue to fight the disease on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning. Scottish Building Federation's President Ian Robb was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March this year.

Ian, 56, joint managing director of The ERDC Group Limited, from Fairmilehead, Edinburgh, said: "When I was diagnosed I felt like my world had come crashing down. But I decided to swap my hard hat for my positive one, and coupled with the treatment I'm receiving at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, I'm well on my road to recovery.

"Prostate cancer is incredibly common amongst men aged between the ages of 40 and 80, but if caught early then it can be easily treated.

"We need to ensure that recognised charities, such as The Prostate Cancer Charity Scotland, continue to receive funding to enable them to help so many other men and their families touched by prostate cancer."

Alistair Fergusson, Fundraising Manager at The Prostate Cancer Charity Scotland, said: "The £2,000 raised will help us continue to support the thousands of men and their families affected by prostate cancer through our research, support and information services."
