Muirhead Primary School recently celebrated the completion of a £2m refurbishment programme with a night of entertainment for invited guests, staff, parents and pupils.
The work, which has been ongoing for nearly four years, has seen the school transformed - with works including the replacement of all windows and doors, a modern infant school extension, new toilets, ceilings and floors.
In addition, the building has benefited from upgrades to all rooms, complete rewiring, a modernised kitchen, full redecoration, new pin boards, whiteboards, new curtains, new furniture and points installed in all classes to allow for the continued development of ICT.
Launching the evening Caroline Connell, Acting Head Teacher said: "As work on the building has progressed, I have seen many improvements and developments to the school building. This would not have happened without the support and financial backing of South Ayrshire Council for which we are very grateful.
"I would particularly like to thank the Council's Property and Design Services, ARP Associates the architects and Buff Murchie and his team from Property and Design who were the on-site contractors."
Councillor Bill McIntosh, who formally opened the school said: "Over the past few years we have started to bring the new PPP schools on line - we have opened the new Monkton Primary Barassie Primary, Prestwick Academy and the Kyle Academy annexe. Next month we celebrate the opening of the new Belmont Academy.
"We have also recently upgraded Dalmilling Primary, Struthers Primary, and Troon Primary and in 2009 we are committed to a major upgrading of Symington Primary, Kincaidston Primary and Forehill Primary"
Staff at Muirhead Primary were commended for putting the needs of their pupils first during the refurbishment works.
The school was dedicated by the Reverend David Harper, one of the school chaplains.
