Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism Jim Mather has announced an extension to the term of appointment of a member of the Board of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
The member whose term has been extended is Angus MacKenzie.
Mr Angus MacKenzie is a Chartered Accountant and previously a partner in Ernst & Young. He has experience in establishing and running small businesses as Joint Managing Director of Spoff (Scotland) Ltd, a company manufacturing premium quality muesli, as well as having helped set up and run Brin Herb Nursery with his wife. He has been a Non-executive member of the Board of Highlands & Islands Enterprise since October 2003, and Chairman of the Audit Committee since 2004.
The extension will run from October 1, 2009 to March 31, 2011.
The post is part-time and attracts remuneration of £10,065 per annum for a time commitment of two days per month.
Angus MacKenzie does not hold any other Ministerial appointments.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise is the Scottish Government's main agency for economic development in the Highlands and Islands. The Scottish Government provides Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Enterprise with a clear strategic direction through the Government Economic Strategy.
This extension was processed in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Angus MacKenzie has not declared any political activity.
