Two-hundred-and forty-four tenants in East Renfrewshire Council's eight sheltered housing complexes have received a letter from housing convener Councillor Danny Devlin to introduce a new warden service.
Wardens have transferred from social work to housing to give them more time to work with tenants while home care will be provided by social work staff from the council’s community health care partnership.
Councillor Danny Devlin said: "We wanted to let tenants know about the changes and to tell them about improvements. We'll also run a survey after a year of the new service so we know what residents think of it and to help us further improve it. We're also encouraging residents to become involved in SHER, Sheltered Housing East Renfrewshire, an association set up by residents themselves and which is recognised by both the council and the Scottish Government."
Sheltered housing complexes are at Hawthorn Court, Busby; Linn Park Court, Netherlee; Fordyce Court, Newton Mearns; Waterford Road, Giffnock; Montgomerie Court, Eaglesham; Bellfield Court, Barrhead; Graham Street, Barrhead and Kirk Glebe, Neilston.
