Construction, development and service group, Kier Scotland has strengthened its senior management team with the recent appointment of George Mackie (MRICS) as a board director.

George, formerly managing director of Robertson Construction Central, will lead the commercial team.

With Kier Scotland currently working under framework/partnering agreements with BAA, Tesco, Sainsbury, South Lanarkshire Council and Perth & Kinross Council, George joins the business at a time when the strength of Kier’s client base means the company is well placed to weather the current economic storm.

Kier Scotland has also recently been appointed onto the LHC Education Framework, which is a four-year programme providing a fast and flexible approach for local authorities to procure refurbishment, extension and new build works to education buildings across the whole of Scotland.

Commenting on the recent appointment, Kier Scotland managing director Derek Fothergill said: "We are delighted to have George join Jim Campbell (preconstruction director) and Roland Duncan (construction director) on the board. His experience of projects in health, education and the commercial environment match our focus over the next few years. George's appointment is just one more example of Kier Scotland building up an expert team to drive the future growth of our business."
