Secretary for Health, Nicola Sturgeon, has officially opened the new NHS Scotland shared centre at Caledonia House in Cardonald, Glasgow.
Glasgow based contractors David H Allan Joiners & Builders completed the major fit-out aspects of the refurbishment on behalf of main contractor BT, transforming an existing Glasgow call centre into revamped and modern office space used by over 700 staff.
BT contracted David H Allan Joiners & Builders to carry out the work as part of a complete re-fit of the building, which included equipping the centre with a modern office space and the latest information communications technology (ICT).
Through partnership working between three Scottish health boards, the building is now home to several health organisations, including NHS 24, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the out-of-hours GP service.
Speaking at the ceremony Andrew Robertson, chairman of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: "We would like to thank our contractors David H Allan Joiners & Builders today who completed this major re-fit for us. They have provided us with quality accommodation, and we held a great rapport with them throughout this contract."
The Secretary for Health said: "This is an excellent example of joined-up working across the public sector to deliver real cost savings for the NHS and therefore the taxpayer.
"Caledonia House is a modern, state-of-the-art facility bringing a range of specialists together under one roof, which I’m confident will mean an enhanced service for patients and the wider public."
Mr Robertson spoke of the tangible benefits of centralising financial and payroll services and bringing together finance staff who previously worked in five separate locations.
David H Allan Joiners & Builders refurbished and upgraded the staff restaurant, servery and kitchens on behalf of BT. They created new high tech meeting rooms, individual offices, a pharmacy, library and prayer room, in addition to providing the client with other new and improved facilities throughout.
The building firm have 25 years experience as a commercial building contractor, they specialise in fit-out and refurbishment work in premises such as universities, schools, offices, hospitals and health care buildings, and hold an extensive portfolio of work delivering national shopfitting programmes for well-known retail clients.
New build extensions to commercial property and the construction of small and medium sized buildings are also delivered by the Glasgow - based contractors.
