Miller Construction Collect Seven 'Considerate' Accolades

Miller Construction (UK) Ltd collected seven accolades at the national Considerate Constructor Scheme (CCS) award ceremony on 17 March, the largest number ever won by the company at one event.

Miller Construction, an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructor Scheme, was presented with three gold; one silver and three bronze awards at the ceremony at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh.

Miller received three of the six gold awards given at the event where 28 construction companies were acknowledged for their participation in the scheme.

Considerate Constructors is a national initiative which aims to improve the image of the construction industry by encouraging best practice beyond statutory requirements, and only the very best performing sites are recognised annually at the awards.

Sites which sign up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which is a completely independent measure, are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice which covers areas including consideration for the public, environmental impact, cleanliness, being a good neighbour, as well as being responsible, respectful, safe and accountable.

Robin Mackie, Chief Executive, Miller Construction, said: "We are delighted with today's wins. To receive seven awards in the one day is exceptional and illustrates the quality of sites that we have throughout the UK. We consistently score above the national average on all of our sites, which is testament to our teams, but to have received all of these certificates on the one day is really a cause for celebration."

Mr Mackie said the CCS is an important body to help drive a change in the perceptions of the construction industry: "I am delighted that seven of our site teams have been recognised today for the role that they play in making this happen."

Sites are audited throughout the length of the project and improvements are sought throughout the period of the build process.

Miller received gold awards for the The Elements, £96m extension to the existing Almondvale Shopping Centre in Livingston for Land Securities - the second gold award for the site; Old Park Primary School, £10.5m 18 classroom primary school with community facilities for Telford & Wrekin Council; Union Square, £110m development in Aberdeen for Hammerson incorporating new retail; cinema; hotel; bus station and the existing railway station.
