Drivers entering East Dunbartonshire will now be greeted by new boundary signs, displaying the council coat of arms and welcoming them to the area.
Twenty-nine new signs have been manufactured and will be erected on all roads entering East Dunbartonshire over the next few weeks.
Councillor Billy Hendry, Convener of the Development & Environment Committee, believes that the new signs are long overdue and will improve the appearance of the area.
He said: "There was no consistency across East Dunbartonshire with some areas having no signs and others having old ones in need of repair and upgrade. I think the standard of road signs is one important part of a bigger jigsaw which adds to the overall attractiveness of an area and gives people and enhanced feeling of civic pride."
The 29 aluminium signs are mounted on galvanised steel poles and have reflective facings.
