Lews Castle Trust is seeking a development partner to maximise the commercial potential of a project to repair and re-use Lews Castle in Stornoway.

Studies undertaken by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and its partners have identified a mixed-use development, consisting of a new museum nan Eilean and a high quality hotel, as the best prospect of securing the future of the A-Listed building.

Angus Campbell, Chairman of Lews Castle Trust Steering group said: "After a period of testing the market, we are in a position to invite formal interests in the potential commercial opportunities of a mixed-use scheme for Lews Castle.

"This is a very important project, not just for Stornoway but for the islands as a whole. There is flexibility in how the commercial potential of the Castle could be developed and we are looking for a partnership that can deliver business viability and public benefits."

Potential interested parties will have a month to express interest in the opportunity. In the procurement documents, Lews Castle Trust states that it is 'seeking a development partner with the skills, resources and experience to deliver a viable commercial solution within a mixed-use scheme for Lews Castle.'
