BAA has appointed a new head of construction and design.

Steve Morgan, the former commercial director at British Nuclear Fuels, is to replace Rob Stewart who will now report to Morgan as construction director.

In his role as capital director Morgan will lead BAA's £6.6bn investment plan overseeing construction and design at seven airports including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. He be tasked with the expansion of the controversial third runway at Heathrow.

BAA also announced the appointment of John Holland-Kaye as commercial director.

Mr Holland-Kaye is currently operations director for the south at Taylor Wimpey, he replaces Duncan Garrood, who is leaving BAA to become president of Starbucks within the Alshaya retail group.

Chief Executive of BAA, Colin Matthews, said: "Over the next five years, we will invest £4bn at Heathrow alone, to completely renovate and modernise the airport's facilities. At the same time, the commercial challenge for our business is greater than ever.

"I am therefore pleased to be strengthening the senior team at this time, with two people of the obvious calibre of Steve Morgan and John Holland-Kaye."

The change in management comes two weeks after the approval of the new runway at Heathrow.
