A Stirling Councillor has welcomed the Scottish government's news of a rural housing boost.
Councillor Alasdair MacPherson, Portfolio Holder for Housing Strategy today showed gratitude over the announcement of £643,000 for eight new homes for rent in Callendar.
He said: "As the Strategic Housing Authority Stirling Council approved this bid submission as we know that more housing is needed in the rural area.
"Our Strategic Housing Plan, developed in partnership with local housing associations, sets out a balanced programme of investment in new housing that ensures we meet the needs of urban and rural communities."
Last October Stirling Council announced a council house building programme delivering 244 homes for rent across the area over the next five years.
