It will now be easier for locals over the age of 16 to apply for social rented housing, with the launch of an East Renfrewshire housing register.
The register means people can apply to three landlords at the same time, to give them a wider choice of 4,000 properties.
East Renfrewshire Council, Arklet Housing Association and Barrhead Housing Association have formed a partnership which means applicants now have to fill in just one form to access waiting lists for all three housing providers.
The partner landlords will then select their tenants from a single pool of applicants using their own allocation policies.
Everyone who is currently on the housing waiting list of each partner landlord will be sent a new East Renfrewshire housing register application pack, before spring, which includes information on the landlords and the locations and types of properties each provides.
They will then have to re-register and choose whether to apply for housing to one, two or all three partners.
A housing advice and information service will also be offered by all the partner landlords.
Open days will be held at Barrhead Sports Centre, Main Street, Barrhead on Wednesday, 21 January and at Thorntree Hall, Main Street, Thornliebank on Thursday 22 January from 1.00 to 6.00pm to explain the new way of applying for social housing and the benefits of the register.
If residents have any questions about the East Renfrewshire housing register, they should get in touch with the relevant landlord.
