Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association, a subsidiary of leading UK housing provider Sanctuary Group, recently launched a homeless accommodation and housing advice project with Renfrewshire Council.
The event followed the completion of the refurbishment of a listed building at 15/19 Abercorn Street in Paisley, a project which has been supported by funding from the Scottish Government and Renfrewshire Council.
The upper two floors will provide 13 flats for homeless persons, who will be supported by Loretto Care, an organisation which provides a range of care and support services to people in need. There will also be a flat for use by staff of Loretto Care.
The ground floor will provide the new base for Renfrewshire Council's housing advice and homeless services. These will include services dealing with support and resettlement and homeless prevention.
Following last week's launch Sanctuary Scotland's Director Gordon Laurie said: "The day was a huge success and guests were impressed with the quality of the refurbishment.
"People using this accommodation will live in high quality, modern flats, while the new base for Renfrewshire Council's housing advice and homeless service is a welcoming and comfortable environment for those seeking assistance from this invaluable service."
Councillor Brian Lawson, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Housing and Community Safety Policy Board said: "Renfrewshire Council is committed to developing preventative and reactive services to address housing need and homelessness.
"By integrating much of our housing advice services in one modern facility, we'll be able to offer an even better service. We're proud to be joining with Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association in this innovative venture."
