Officials from the European Commission are visiting Scotland today as part of their ongoing investigation into ferry services.
Speaking ahead of meeting the Commission, Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson said: "The Scottish Government extends a warm welcome to the European Commission. We hope this visit will allow Commission officials to further build on their knowledge of the ferry services currently being provided in Scotland.
"Whilst this investigation covers the term of previous administrations, the Scottish Government will of course co-operate fully with the Commission in its work."
Mr Stevenson said the government are "absolutely committed" to delivering a first class ferry service for remote and island communities.
"We are hopeful that this investigation will bring some resolution to the complaints that have been made in the past by some third parties," he said.
