Telford Street Traffic Update And Work On the B851

A problem with a Scottish Water underground service connection to the new 'ALDI' store on Telford Street means that Raynesway Construction are currently unable to switch westbound traffic from one side of the road to the other as planned.

The open excavation, combined with the position of the traffic splitter island would result in additional diversionary difficulties for HGV traffic and as a result the reconstruction of the westbound lane will have to be delayed until the service connection issue has been resolved.

Until this happens Telford Street will be reopened to two way traffic later this morning. Raynesway Construction are hoping to be in a position to complete the roadworks within the next couple of weeks or so and the existing traffic management, which has so far worked very well, will have to be re-instated.

Elsewhere in the Inverness area, drivers using the B851 road between Farr and the Grouse and Trout are being advised that BT Openreach are currently carrying out fibreoptic cabling work alongside the road.

The contractor they have appointed is carrying out the work between 18:00 and 02:00 in an attempt to minimise disruption to the travelling public. The work, which is expected to last two weeks, could result in long delays for traffic so drivers are advised to use an alternative route, best option being the C Class roads between Balnafoich, Crask and Brin House.
