Gatts Moves From Old To New

Furniture repair and restoration experts Gatts is moving to new premises as it expands its services.

The Aberdeen company, which was established 25 years ago, specialises in French polishing, upholstery, furniture repair and restoration. It is now set to launch Gatts Contracts, in addition to its 'Traditional Crafts' services, offering painting, decorating, joinery and handyman services.

Gatts, the only provider of a full furniture restoration solution in the North-east, is moving from its current Balmoral Terrace premises where it has been for 14 years to a new custom-fitted workshop and office facility at Hareness Circle, Altens Industrial Estate.

The company, which currently has five staff, aims to increase its staff portfolio to 15 in the coming months for business generated by the launch of the new services and the move to bigger, better-equipped premises.

Manager, Doug Tough, said: "We provide a traditional service, using the very best techniques developed over time, and there is a huge demand for that. However we were well aware that there was scope to diversify and we are entering a very exciting time of further growth and development.

"Our experience and fine eye to detail have led to us building a reputation as 'Master Craftsmen' over the past 25 years. We wanted to be able to provide a fuller, all-round, service to our clients and the new division allows us to do this by complimenting the existing services.

"Our continued growth led to the need for investment in bigger premises with better facilities for our craftsmen. This includes a state of the art spray booth which can produce modern furniture finishes."

Gatts aims to be fully operational from its new premises by early November.
