Walkers and cyclists will enjoy better and safer access to five paths across East Renfrewshire thanks to a £54,000 investment in banishing poor surfaces, cutting back bushes and improving lighting.
The paths are at Nethervale Avenue, Netherlee; Library Lane, Thornliebank; Gateside Road, Barrhead; Orchard Drive, Giffnock and Robslee Drive, Thornliebank. They form path of a strategic paths network which aims to boost walking and cycling by linking up paths across the council's area.
Cash for the improvements has come from a mixture of Scottish Government funds and the council's own area forums.
East Renfrewshire Council leader Councillor Jim Fletcher said: "Path improvements are central to encouraging people to walk and cycle more both to use cars less and to boost their health."
