Following its recent review of property maintenance services, East Ayrshire Council is forging ahead with the redesign and refurbishment of its supported accommodation for older people and is nearing completion of the works at Ellisland Court, Mauchline.
All eight of the Council's housing complexes will have been refurbished by 2011.
Mrs Watson, of Ellisland Court, is pleased with the refurbishment said: "I love the way the Council has designed my home especially the kitchen and bathroom facilities. It lets me have the privacy of my own lovely wee home and I can have neighbours in or use the common facilities and support provided by the unit when I prefer."
Council spokesperson for Community Wellbeing, Councillor Kathy Morrice, said: "As a Council, East Ayrshire looks to provide the best it can for its older people living in our supported housing complexes by providing them with the highest quality facilities within a warm, safe and secure environment that can deliver the support they need to stay independent in the heart of their local communities and near their families and friends."
