Craigvar Construction in Galashiels is to close.
The Scottish Border based firm will wind up operations by the end of the year.
A total of 14 jobs will be lost.
Company director Gordon Richardson blamed the current economic situation for the move.
A report by the Scottish Chamber of Commerce published today showed that manufacturing capacity had fallen and the proportion of construction firms working below optimum levels had increased from 30% to 70%, since the last quarterly report.
Over 70% of construction respondents claimed their business confidence had dropped since the end of June.
Earlier this month the Scottish Government announced a £9m funding package to help the construction industry, including money allocated to the Borders.
