Industrial Action On Network Rail

Signallers employed by Network Rail have announced they are to stage two 24-hour strikes in Scotland next week.

The signallers, members of the Rail Maritime and Transport Union (RMT), said the strikes will take place between noon on Tuesday October 7 and noon on Wednesday October 8, and between noon on Thursday October 9 and noon on Friday October 10.

The RMT also announced a ban on overtime and rest-day working will start at 00:01 on Tuesday October 7.

First ScotRail hopes that Network Rail and RMT can avert the industrial action. However, as a precaution Scotrail have withdrawn daytime and Sleeper reservations for Tuesday 7 , Wednesday 8, Thursday 9 and Friday 10 October.

They are working with industry partners to provide as many services as possible should the strikes go ahead.

The timetable will be announced as soon as the plans have been finalised.
