The first phase of the Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link will be completed by Network Rail in October this year when double tracking of the line between Bathgate and Edinburgh is commissioned.
The new section of line is part of the £300m Transport Scotland funded Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link Project, and will see improved reliability and quality of service on the busy Bathgate to Edinburgh commuter route.
To enable the first phase to be completed on time, the project requires seven days of planned rail improvements to the main Edinburgh / Glasgow line and will take place at the same time as a nine-day closure of the Bathgate branch in October. Full contingency plans are in place to provide revised transport arrangements for passengers.
In addition to the work being carried out for the Airdrie - Bathgate project, further works are taking place affecting services that operate through Edinburgh Waverley.
Revised timings for these services are contained in this booklet, including details of any connecting bus services.
Journeys may take longer than normal. You can also check your times before travelling at staffed stations, or by phoning the National Rail Enquiry service on: 08457 48 49 50.
