Refurbishment plans for flats in Denny, have been approved by Falkirk Council's Housing and Social Services Committee.

The seven blocks of flats are 27-121 Little Denny Road and 34-104 Overton Crescent. There are also proposals to refurbish 1 to 15 Broadside Place at a later stage.

Environmental improvement and an estate management action plan will also be prepared for the area covering bin, storage, drying areas, car parking, an on-site caretaker and maintenance issues.

Plans to refurbish the flats were put on hold earlier this year when tender prices came in much higher than the original estimate.

Consultation was held with the residents affected and with other people living in the area and all options explored.

"Rising costs have affected all areas of housing but we are committed to bringing these flats and the area up to standard, "said Councillor Gerry Goldie, Convener of Housing and Social Services. "Our new proposals will, we hope, strike a balance between tenants and the resources available for investment in our housing stock."
