Argyll and Bute Council is in the process of developing proposals to upgrade Helensburgh Swimming Pool as part of its five-year asset sustainability programme.

The aim of the proposed upgrade works is to open up space and to create a more comfortable, motivating and accessible environment for the public and for families in particular.

Proposals centre around upgrading the reception, changing village, health suite and fitness suite areas.

They also include a number of energy and water saving initiatives which will reduce the building's carbon footprint.

Following feedback from regular gym users, the Council hopes to improve the quality of the gym facilities, with the current proposals focussing on improving capacity to provide new gym based training programmes and GP referral and rehab classes.

The Council's leisure services team will be consulting with facility users, clubs and interest groups over the next few weeks regarding the scope of the proposed works and the impact of a closure period in the New Year, which it is likely to take between four and six months.

The business case for the proposed works will be presented to the Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee for their consideration in October.
