Plans to build flats overlooking Hawick's 1514 monument have been approved by the Scottish Borders Council.
Hawick Sport and Social Club in the town centre will be transformed into ten flats despite concerns about parking in the area.
Councillors have said they are pleased to see the building being put to good use but have attached a number of conditions, ranging from energy efficiency to the provision of a communal television aerial or satellite system.
A range of one and two-bedroom flats will be constructed.
