Carluke library, South lanarkshire, will close temporarily from Monday 18 August for five days to allow construction work on the new Carluke integrated community facility.
An alternative service will be provided during this period in the mobile library which will be parked in Carluke town centre in Car Park 2 (adjacent to No. 54 Hamilton Street).
The mobile library will issue and discharge books, etc and will be open Monday to Wednesday 9.15am-5pm, Thursday 1.30pm-7.30pm and Friday 9.15am-5pm.
Construction work is currently underway to provide a new integrated community facility, adjacent to the current library, which will incorporate a new library and this is expected to be ready next summer.
Bovis Lend Lease, who are building the new facility, have advised that pile driving work needs to be undertaken during the week commencing 18 August. Given the noise and vibration that will occur close to the current library and the obvious disruption that this will cause customers the council has agreed to provide an alternative temporary service in the town centre. It is hoped that the disruption will be short term .
Posters will be displayed in Carluke library to ensure that users are aware of the alternative arrangements.
