People in Orkney and Helensburgh are being asked what legacy they want from the 2014 Commonwealth Games at public meetings held this week.
The events take will take place at RSR Braeholm, 31 East Montrose Street, Helensburgh on Monday, August 11 between 1800 and 1930 and St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall on Wednesday, August 13 between 1800 and 1930
Scottish Government staff will make a brief presentation about the development of a Commonwealth Games legacy, which will be followed by a discussion session.
The Scottish Government will respond formally to the consultation towards the end of this year, and publish a Commonwealth Games Legacy Plan in summer 2009.
Minister for Communities and Sport, Stewart Maxwell, said: "I hope that as many people as possible turn out in Helensburgh and Kirkwall. We want to hear their views on what they want from the 2014 Games.
"This Government has always made clear that hosting the 2014 Games is not just about hosting a two-week sporting festival. It presents Scotland with great opportunities to make real improvements to people's lives, to raise our sights as a nation and regenerate communities across Scotland.
"We need individuals, groups and organisations to examine our proposals rigorously, and to think creatively about how the Games can help in their area."
