Doig+Smith has been appointed as Cost Consultants for the new £12m multi-sports centre near East Kilbride.

The company will be overseeing the building of the 100 acre multi-sports facility which aims to give more Scots the opportunities to play golf, football and tennis in top class facilities.

Future Colin Montgomerie's will be able to try out their skills on a tribute golf course featuring famous holes from places like St Andrews and Muirfield, while wannabe Andy Murray's will be able hone their skills at eight indoor tennis courts when the centre opens in March 2009.

The sprawling complex will also feature a 60-bay, two-tier driving range, ten football pitches and a 250,000 sq ft indoor sports centre.

Ian Jamieson, Partner, Doig+Smith, said: "This is a hugely important contract not just for us as a company but for the future of sport in Scotland. Having good public facilities where people can play tennis and golf is very important if we are to increase the number of young people entering and excelling in these sports."

The contract which is worth £12m is the just the latest big win for Doig+Smith which recently started work on the first phase of the £60m refurbishment of Terminal 3 at Heathrow Airport.
