Mansell Staff Saddle Up For Mammoth Charity Bike Ride Relay

Big hearted staff from leading construction company, Mansell, are gearing up for a mammoth charity bike ride relay covering the length of the UK, which will kick off at the firm's most northerly office, Elgin, this week.

The event is part of Mansell's centenary year fundraising campaign - the company is celebrating 100 years in business by raising funds for a number of good causes throughout the year - and will involve adventurous employees from across the UK cycling between the firm’s 21 offices.

The first team of budding Lance Armstrong's will set off from Mansell's Elgin base this Thursday, July 31, and will make the 64 mile journey to the company’s Aberdeen office where the 'baton' will be handed over to some fresh pairs of legs for the next stage of the relay, onto Dundee.

The nearly 1,300 mile challenge will take two months to complete and will culminate in a special charity reception at the British Museum in London, on Wednesday, October 1.

To mark the company reaching the incredible milestone of a century in business, it has organised a series of fundraising events - the highlight being the cycle challenge - as part of its continued commitment to support local groups and organisations. Each of its regional offices has adopted a local charity for which to raise money.

Mansell's Elgin office has chosen to raise funds for Friends of Oaks - a financial support group for The Oaks Palliative Care Centre, in Elgin, which provides specialist care and support for people with cancer and other progressive illnesses in the Moray area.

George Hood, Divisional Managing Director at Mansell, says the Elgin team has been busy limbering up for the event and is eager to raise as much cash as possible.

He said: "To reach the remarkable milestone of 100 years in business is an incredible achievement and with all of the chosen charities carrying out exceptionally worthwhile work we are delighted to be able to support them.

"Each of our regional offices has organised a host of fundraising activities throughout the year and we are extremely excited that the time has come to kick off our bike ride relay, which will encompass visits to our various offices and bring together our staff from across the whole of the UK for a truly unique fundraising event."
