A Shelter Scotland event, Firm Foundations in Private Renting?, a one-day conference on the private rented sector, is being held on August 27 at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, 9.30am - 4.00pm.
The private rented sector is going through significant change as new reforms and regulation bed in, at a time when the housing market is under stress and the credit crunch is biting. How does this affect the future for private renting?
This conference will give delegates the opportunity to update themselves on trends and changes affecting the sector. We will hear about the Scottish Government's plans for private renting and, in particular, the contribution private landlords can make to meeting the internationally acclaimed targets on homelessness.
Speakers include Stewart Maxwell, Minister for Communities and Sport; Graeme Brown, Director, Shelter Scotland; David Kendall, National Association of Landlords; Anna Donald, The Scottish Government; Drew Macfarlane-Slack, Regional Manager, SRPBA and Kirsty Morrison, Strategy & Research Manager, City of Edinburgh Council.
This conference will be particularly relevant for private landlords and letting agents, local authority private rented sector and homelessness staff, environmental health officers and landlord registration officers and voluntary sector staff.
It costs £140, but has reduced rates available for early booking, voluntary and community organisations and private landlords.
