As part of a £45m business plan Glenmorangie whiskey distiller is to relocate its headquarters to Edinburgh and upgrade two distilleries.
The exact sites for the new headquarters and bottling plant have yet to be revealed, however the deal will see the present HQ at Broxburn sold to Diageo and the sale of its Glen Moray distillery at Elgin as a going concern.
The Tain and Islay distilleries will be upgraded and the company will focus on building premium single malt whiskey brands Glenmorangie and Ardbeg.
The distiller will withdraw from the bottling and sale of blended Scotch whiskey.
Consultation has begun with the companies employees. Job loses are as a result of the plan, most through retirements.
Chief executive Paul Neep said: "We believe that these proposals will deliver long-term additional growth for both the company and also, importantly, for the local and wider Scottish economies."
