Morris & Spottiswood Win Two Major Housing Refurbishment Contracts

Morris & Spottiswood, refurbishment and maintenance services provider to the affordable housing sector, has won its first two Edinburgh-based external housing refurbishment contracts with a combined value of £825,000.

The City of Edinburgh Council has awarded Morris & Spottiswood the works as part of a major external fabric refurbishment and communal improvements contract for Wester Hailes housing development. This project is part of the Council's £265m plan to ensure that all of its homes exceed the Government's Scottish Housing Quality Standard by the year 2015.

The firm has also won an external fabric and remedial refurbishment contract from Prospect Community Housing Association in Edinburgh's Clovenstone Park & Westburn district. In total, 100 homes will benefit from the work delivered by Morris & Spottiswood.

Morris & Spottiswood has some of the largest affordable housing refurbishment programmes in the country, including contracts with Glasgow Housing Association, North Lanarkshire and North Ayrshire Councils.

Morris & Spottiswood operations manager, Tom Wilson, said: "We are currently turning round in excess of 200 homes per month as part of our existing housing contracts which is a phenomenal rate by anyone's standards. We therefore have a solid track record in terms of our performance, but that's not all.

"The quality of workmanship is high and we work with the residents to make as little disruption to their lives as possible. These are important factors for our two new clients and for us in terms of building our business in the affordable housing sector in Scotland."
