Inverclyde Council has published revised plans for renewing the Schools Estate that will ensure all pupils are educated in new or refurbished schools.

The plans involve the modernisation of the entire schools estate, including primary and secondary schools, as well as ASN Schools and Pre-5 Establishments.

The plans build on the significant progress that has been made to date including the closure of five primary schools, the refurbishment of four primary schools and the construction of Inverclyde Academy and Newark Primary School.

There are three options on secondary schooling for members to consider at the meeting of the Education and Lifelong Learning Committee on June 18. These are a four school option, a five campus option for six schools or a six school option.

Also up for discussion is the creation of a new Additional Support Needs school to be built on the current site of St Laurence's Primary School to replace Lilybank and Glenburn schools. ASN units would also be formed in the refurbished Overton/Highlanders school and Inverclyde Academy while Garvel Deaf Centre would be relocated to Moorfoot Primary School.
