New Addition To Miller Construction's Aberdeen Team

Miller Construction has appointed Heather Sharkey as Tenant Liaison Officer in Aberdeen.

Heather will oversee, from a construction aspect, the tenant liaison activity of the Union Square Development – a £250m project for Hammerson which will see the creation of a major retail and leisure development on a nine hectare site adjacent to the railway station and harbour area.

Heather will be responsible for liaising with Hammerson; designers and fit-out contractors on the site; engaging with local businesses and neighbours; and working in partnership with local schools.

Heather said: "I am delighted to have taken up this post with Miller Construction. Having lived in Aberdeen for years, I appreciate the significance of this exciting retail development in the city, and look forward to being a part of it.

"My previous experience of both the construction and retail industries will ensure a smooth transition from Union Square being a building project to becoming Aberdeen’s biggest and best retail and leisure destination."

Hammerson’s regeneration scheme will incorporate 56 retail units comprising a range of national and international brands, up to 12 restaurants and cafés, a 203 bed hotel, a 10 screen multiplex set to be Aberdeen’s largest cinema, and a new civic square.

Brian McQuade, Joint Managing Director for Miller Construction, said: "It is with great pleasure that we welcome Heather to the Miller Construction operations in Aberdeen. Heather will play a significant role in ensuring that the retailers who take space at Union Square will be ready to trade when the centre opens in late 2009, bringing a whole new shopping and leisure experience to the people of Aberdeen – I know that she will be a great asset to our company."

Heather joins Miller Construction with a solid background in the industry having been a project manager for a Timber Systems Company and prior to that a property manager with a surveying firm.
