Developers are appealing against the rejection of plans to turn a historic pub in the Scottish borders into housing.

A planning application to turn the Crook Inn at Tweedsmuir into four flats and a house was turned down by the Scottish Borders Council in March, members of the Tweeddale Area Committee voted against the plan despite officials recommending approval.

The appeal reasons that the plans would secure an active future for the pub. The pub owners have argued that it is no longer viable to run as a pub and hotel.

However a local community trust has been set up and has expressed an interest in buying and running the 17th century pub as a business.

A hearing will decide the final outcome.
