Nine supplier and sub-contractor companies have been recognised in McCarthy & Stone's Scottish annual awards for their contribution to the retirement builders' developments throughout the region.

For the second year running, ironmongery business George Boyd won 'gold' in the National Supplier of the Year category. Liftwise won 'silver' for lift installations and Heckmondwyke FB Ltd won 'bronze' for carpets.

In the Regional Supplier of the Year category, Fyfe Glenrock won 'gold' for supplying granite stone; A & E Russell Ltd won 'silver' for supplying building tools and Martin Plant Hire won 'bronze' for supplying plant as well as industrial clothing.

In the final category, Regional Subcontractor of the Year, the 'gold' winner was The Presidential Decorating Company Ltd. Briggs Amasco won 'silver' for mastic asphalt roofing and Mirin Tiling won 'bronze' for ceramic wall tiling.

The awards ceremony took place at Cawder Golf Club near Glasgow and presentations were made by Willie Bell, regional buyer for McCarthy & Stone.
