Aberdeen is to host the World Energy Cities Partnership AGM.
At a meeting in Houston of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP), attended by the Aberdeen City Councils Lord Provost Peter Stephen, Aberdeen has been confirmed as the venue for this year's AGM.
Delegates attending the meeting were treated to a preview of the new Aberdeen City and Shire DVD to give them a taste of what the area has to offer.
The event will take place November 5 - 8 2008 and will welcome around 100 delegates to the city from more than 13 partner cities. It is anticipated that the event will also attract trade delegations from the cities, who will have the opportunity to meet with local businesses in Aberdeen during their visit.
The WECP includes amongst its members Dammam, Malabo, Calgary, St John's, Halifax, Daiqing, Dongying, Houston, Perth, Stavanger, San Fernando and Villahermosa.
Port Harcourt was also welcomed at the meeting in Houston as a new member of the partnership and Aberdeen are actively supporting the city of Maracaibo in its bid to rejoin the partnership, which should be confirmed at the AGM in Aberdeen.
Lord Provost Peter Stephen said: "We are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to welcome the Energy Cities Partnership AGM to the city.
"It is vital for Aberdeen to maintain its position within the organisation and this visit will give the city a unique opportunity to showcase its businesses, technology, skills and expertise."
