The regeneration of Whitfield in Dundee has taken another step forward after a report to go before councillors was approved.

Council administration leader, Councillor Kevin Keenan said: "There has already been extensive consultation and involvement of the Whitfield community about developing a framework for the future of the area.

"An important part of the process will now be establishing a board to look after how the plans for the community will be implemented. The successful regeneration of Ardler was in no small part down to the involvement of local people and their determination to help make the various proposals work."

The councillor said a similar situation is envisaged for Whitfield. He congratulated members of the local community who stepped forward to help and showed commitment to the project.

It is envisaged that the project board will include local people and elected members, representatives of various council departments and NHS Tayside.

Community representatives from tenant and resident organisations, local voluntary groups and individuals who have expressed an interest in the project make up a sub-group to support the board.
