"This alone requires an investment of £50m and will in itself be the single biggest investment in Fife's sporting infrastructure since the late 1960's. To put it in a wider context, this is one of the biggest investments in sport by a local authority in Scotland."

Dur to the scale of the project a "like-for-like replacemen" for all three facilities is plannned

Councillor Goodall concluded: "We very much see this as the first stage in a longer-term commitment to the provision of high quality sport facilities in the town and I can also confirm that we'd be happy to explore a partnership approach if there are other organisations ready, willing and able to make a contribution to the development of additional sport facilities in Kirkcaldy."
