East Ayrshire Council is providing 'good' Housing Management and Asset Management and Repairs Services, according to Communities Scotland.

Inspectors also judged services to Homeless People to be 'fair'. They assessed the council's Housing Service as having many strengths including the large number of people with housing needs being re-housed by the council; the helpful and user friendly ways provided to people to access the Housing Service; and the excellent range of information provided to tenants on tenancy and neighbourhood management

The Inspector commented that the council is committed to improving services for tenants. The council has agreed to address Inspector's recommendations in the report, including its approach to cancelling and suspending housing applications and its assessment procedures for those presenting as homeless.

Councillor Kathy Morrice, Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing, said: "I am pleased with the report from the Housing Regulator.

"The Council has strengths in a large number of areas and has a clear strategy to continue to improve its Housing Service including our arrangements for assisting homeless people.

"Overall, the report demonstrates the Council's standing as one of the top performing Scottish Housing authorities inspected by the Regulator."
