Fife Council has issued important advice for tenants following the issue of new rent payment cards.
Head of Local Services, Graeme McRoberts stressed everyone should by now have received their new cards in time for this Monday, April 7 when the first rent payment is due. The cards replace letters which are normally issued at this time of year.
He also confirmed tenants in receipt of full housing benefit whose rent was automatically paid will have received a payment card which could be used in the future in the event of a change to their benefit entitlement.
He said: "Anyone needing help or advice should call our money and payment line on 08451 55 00 44. Also I'd like to reassure anyone that if you don't have a card by Monday you will not be marked down as being in rent arrears. There is no need to worry about this."
He explained the change to a new system whereby payments are not accepted at the Council's 22 Local Services Centres but can be made at any of 260 PayPoint outlets or Post Office branches in Fife was working well.
He added how anyone receiving a payment card could use it immediately as many of the PayPoint or Post Office outlets were open long hours including at the weekend.
