The National House Building Council (NHBC) has launched a new Level 3 site inspector NVQ.
Site inspectors are responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements and nationally recognised standards. The new Level 3 NVQ programme is suitable for less experienced site inspectors and will lead them through a course which will help develop personal skills.
It will also enable them to become members of CIOB or RICS and apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card at an appropriate level. The programme consists of a number of units in specific organisational and technical areas, combined with mentoring support. At level 3, six units are required; four are mandatory and the remaining two can be selected from five options.
Rob Lockey, NHBC's Training Services Manager, said: "We are especially pleased to be able to add this NVQ programme to our portfolio as it will fit naturally with the existing programme we offer at Level 4.
"We now have the ability to develop site inspectors though a structured and integrated series of units, from junior to more experienced level of competence."
