The campaign for upgrading the A82 is gathering pace as a petition on the Scottish Parliament website collects 8,555 names – that's the highest number of submissions to Holyrood over a single issue.
Local authorities, road users and police are all backing the campaign for improvements.
The A82 which spans from Glasgow to Inverness, taking in Caledonian Canal, Glencoe and Loch Lomond – has a dismal safety record.
Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson is due to meet representatives of the campaign early next month.
The petition is now closed to submissions.
