Overnight crack-sealing works will take place on sections of the A702 between Biggar and Melbourne Crossroads over three nights from today, 19th to Wednesday 21st October 2026.
Transport Scotland's operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the programme between 19:30 and 06:00 each night. During these hours, the A702 will be closed between its junctions with the A72 and A721.
A signed diversion will be in place via the A72, Skirling, and the A721, adding approximately 4.1 miles and six minutes to affected journeys.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to outline the traffic management arrangements and help minimise inconvenience.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: "These improvements on the A702 trunk road will address and repair defects in the road surface, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
"It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
"We thank road users in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements."
