SSE has launched this year's Tievenameenta Community Benefit Fund, making £90,000 available to help community groups, schools, clubs and other organisations deliver projects that provide long-lasting local benefits.
The annual fund, linked to SSE's Tievenameenta Wind Farm near Killeter in County Tyrone, is open to initiatives based within a 12-mile radius. Eligible themes include community development, energy efficiency, sustainability, climate action and safety.
Applications are open now and close on 18 November 2026.
Among previous recipients is Dergview Football Club, which secured £14,000 to install a solar PV system with battery storage at its ground. The grant enabled the club to fit 34 high-efficiency panels alongside battery technology, generating renewable power on site, cutting energy bills and emissions, and freeing up resources for community and sporting activities.
David Loughlin, Dergview Football Club, said: "The support from the Tievenameenta Community Benefit Fund has enabled us to progress an important project that will deliver long-term benefits for the club and wider community. The solar and battery installation will help reduce operating costs, improve energy resilience and support our efforts to become more sustainable for years to come."
Padraig Fitzgerald, Community Investment Manager at SSE, said: "Local groups know best what their communities need, and this fund is designed to help turn those ideas into projects that deliver lasting benefits. From improving local facilities to supporting sustainability initiatives, we're proud to provide funding that helps communities invest in their future.
"We would encourage eligible organisations to explore the opportunities available and submit an application. We look forward to supporting another range of projects that will make a positive difference across communities surrounding Tievenameenta Wind Farm."
The Tievenameenta Community Benefit Fund is part of SSE's commitment to share the benefits of renewable energy projects with neighbouring communities.
