Hillhouse Group has brought its Edinburgh Asphalt plant into operation following months of construction, commissioning and preparation. The opening marks a significant investment designed to strengthen long-term supply to customers throughout the east of Scotland.
Based within the company's established Soutra Mains Quarry in Midlothian, the plant sits alongside aggregate, ready-mixed concrete and concrete block operations, creating a single, strategically positioned hub for a broad range of construction materials.
The new site complements Hillhouse's existing asphalt plants in Troon, Glasgow and Alloa, broadening the company's production footprint and improving geographic coverage for contractors working across Scotland.
For current clients, the launch provides access to Hillhouse asphalt across a wider area under familiar commercial relationships and the Group's proven expertise. New customers gain a local supply option backed by experienced teams, modern facilities and a focus on quality and service.
Hillhouse said the project's delivery reflects collaboration across internal teams and specialist partners. In an accompanying film, Commercial Director Craig Kirkland discusses the development's significance, the people who enabled it and the opportunities it creates for the wider business. He notes that long-term success will be defined not only by output but by strong customer relationships, understanding of requirements, and consistently dependable products and service.
With production under way, Hillhouse's commercial and operational teams are engaging with clients on needs ranging from major infrastructure schemes and planned surfacing programmes to smaller local works.
Edinburgh Asphalt is now open for enquiries and orders, with further information and technical details available from the company.
